Omega + Oil is a Bio-Gro certified deep sea species Omega + oil with a balanced blend of 15% Omega 3’s and Omega 6’s. It has been manufactured to assist the diary industry with improved fertility, better animal health and increased milk production.
There are billions of bacteria, more than 200 different species of them, working in the stomach of a cow at any time. They require a complex food source. Omega + oil is the perfect food source to feed them and keep them working. The diet from which a ruminant actually absorbs it’s nutrients is much richer than the dry matter the animal originally ate. In fact cows obtain many of their nutrients by digesting the symbiotic bacteria which reproduce in the rumen.
Farmer trials over the last two years have shown improvements in fertility, animal health and milk production. There has also been a improvement in bloat management. Omega + dairy oil provides farmers with an alternative to hydrocarbon based bloat controls.
Over recent years the practice of ’topping’ paddocks has denied cows the opportunity to access the oils that would have been available in the seed heads. Although some modern thinking is that these seed heads have no value, they fail to recognise that the value was in the oil content. By directly adding Omega + oil into the drinking trough we have noticed that the cows will actively seek it out.
The recommended rate of Omega + oil per cow, is 15 to 20 ml per day.
