Horticulture Requirements

Horticulture crops perform best in soils with well developed biology . Beneficial soil organisms make nutrients available to plants, reduce nutrient losses by storing them, increase water holding capacity and assist in suppressing disease through the actions of symbiotic fungi.

Soil Fertility and Health

Woody tissue plants require fungal dominant soils. Fungi perform a major nutrient recycling role. Fungi performs the role of digesting carbon in the form of leaves and wood and making it available again within the humus content of the soil. Fungi are very susceptible to chemicals and are generally the first micro organism to suffer under conventional spray programmes. Beneficial fungi need to be in an aerobic environment. That means your soil needs good levels of biology including earthworms to transport oxygen into the root zone where your fungi can do their work in supplying a healthy plant root system with nutrients and disease management.

Biosea offers very simple programmes to kick start and maintain your soil biology particularly fungi. It comprises primarily 4 parts:

The programme we recommend will quickly put you onto a path of healthier more fertile soils and healthier more productive plants . The soil ecosystem is a complex interconnection of interdependant organisms and cycles necessary for optimum plant health and nutrition. The products we supply are designed to feed and nurture these organisms.
